MUSIC CENTER AT STRATHMORE
Preparing for the Concert

Help your students to get the most from their concert experience with the following helpful tips!

Before the Concert

  • Prepare your students for their concert experience using the materials in the Teachers' Guides and from our Classroom Activities section on this website.
  • If your members of your group have special needs, please list these needs on your order form. In addition, please contact the BSO Education Department at (410) 783-8118 or by email at least three weeks prior to the concert to confirm all accommodations.

On Your Way to the Concert

  • Make certain that your bus driver has directions and procedures for arrival at the Music Center at Strathmore.
  • If arriving by car, parking is available in the Metro parking garage on Tuckerman Lane.
  • Upon arrival at the Music Center, please make sure to follow the directions of the Music Center staff and Montgomery Co. police officers. They are there for your safety and assistance. Do not unload your bus until instructed to do so by the Music Center staff.

At the Concert

  • Homeschool groups should check in at the table in the main lobby for seating assignments.
  • Remind your students that no food, drink, or chewing gum is allowed in the hall.
  • Photography is not permitted in the concert hall.
  • Sorry! Children under 3 years of age are not permitted in these concerts.

After the Concert

  • Ask your students to remain in their seats at the end of the concert. A Music Center representative will dismiss the groups.
  • Once you are dismissed, proceed quickly and quietly to the exit to which you are directed. If you are unclear as to which exit to use, please do not hesitate to ask an usher.
  • Ask your students to reflect on their concert experience with the "Be a Music Critic" activity or by using an age-appropriate "Student Response Sheet"

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the BSO Education Department at (410) 783-8069 or by email.
