There are all sorts of things for you and your family to do with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra! From Weekend Family Concerts, to holiday concerts, to the Artscape Musical Open House, there is always something exciting going on for your family at the Symphony. Where is our Oboe? Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 11:00 am Musicians of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra featuring: Ellen Pendleton Troyer, violin Michael Lisicky, oboe Philip Munds, horn Christopher Dudley, trombone Jonathan Jensen, bass Brian Prechtl, percussion Come hear music-telling at its finest.  The musicians are taking their act on the road and you're invited to tag along!  Road trips are always exciting and doubly so when you head out on a concert tour with members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.  Everything is going great until someone gets lost..."Oh no! Where is our oboe?" Please note: the full orchestra will not be performing on this concert. The Nutcracker Ballet Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 11:00 am Rheda Becker, narrator Baltimore School for the Arts Dancers With only one seasonal performance, tickets will go fast for the BSO's performance of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker with the Baltimore School for the Arts Dancers!  Treat your child (and yourself!) to the timeless tale of the Nutcracker and delight in some of the season's most memorable melodies. Featured Works:     Sergei Prokofiev   Cinderella     Classically Kids Series Designed for children ages 7 - 12 (Saturdays at 11:00 AM) The Firebird Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 11:00 am Landis and Company's Enchantment Theatre Weaving theatre, masks, puppetry, shadow play and magic, Landis and Company's Enchantment Theatre joins the BSO for Stravinsky's wondrous ballet music from The Firebird.  Follow the journey of our hero, Prince Ivan, in a performance that is sure to delight children and their families.  Based on a Russian folk tale. Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11 am Jason Love and Gene Young, conductors Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra Peabody Sinfonietta Take an adventure around the world...through music!  Bring your family to hear young musicians from the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra and the Peabody Sinfonietta.  Explore what gives the music and exotic instruments of America, Europe, Asia, and Africa their unique sound and style.  This tour of the world through music features selections from Dvorák, Beethoven, Copland and more. Please note: the BSO will not be performing on this concert. In the Composer's Workshop Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 11 am Gregory Smith, host and narrator Join the BSO for an inside look at some of the secrets of composing.  Learn the tools of the trade and find out what inspires composers to write music.  Help composer Gregory Smith finish his work by choosing the perfect musical ending!  Featured Works:     Gregory Smith   Mr. Smith's Composition Aaron Copland   Variations from a Shaker Melody
