Adult Education

At the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, we recognize that the pursuit of knowledge extends far beyond childhood. We offer a variety of educational opportunities for our adult patrons, including a brand new concert concept, the Explorer Series.

Composers in Conversation
Imagine what it would have been like to meet and discuss music with Mendelssohn, Schumann, or Brahms!  Meet the most prominent, active composers of our time, whose names will likely be carved into the mantel of history alongside Beethoven and Mozart.  Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get an insider's perspective on a composer's life and work, right from the composers themselves.  Who could resist rubbing shoulders with John Adams, Tan Dun, Steven Mackey, John Corigliano, and others?  Click here to learn more.

Explorer Series
xplorer Series
Following its successful debut in the 2005-06 season, the BSO's Explorer Series continues to thrill audiences.  In 2007-2008, the Series takes a fascinating journey to three distinct locations in the world.  Along with three composers, including Oscar winner Tan Dan, high-energy violinist Mark O'Connor, and the Scottish gem James MacMillan, we explore their history, culture and landscape - click here.

Pre-Concert Lectures with the Baltimore Symphony Associates
Enhance your concert experience by attending a free, pre-concert lecture before select Celebrity Series concerts. Information about these events and other programs sponsored and hosted by the Baltimore Symphony Associates, click here.

Student Events
The BSO invites ID-bearing students to attend our College Nights, including discounted admission and post-concert receptions with food, drinks, prizes, and a chance to meet BSO musicians. And, in addition to Student Rush, we're now offering a BSO Student Pass!

Lectures of Note
This four-lecture series leads you through the evolution of classical music, from baroque to modern. The Lectures of Note series is just one example of the benefits of membership with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
