Be A Music Critic
Now that you have been to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and heard the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, we want to know what you thought of your experience. Put yourself in the shoes of a music critic and evaluate your concert experience. In 2-3 short paragraphs, review your visit to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The purpose of a review is to tell people about the quality of your experience. Try not to let your personal opinions (such as whether or not you like Classical Music) influence how you judge the concert. Make sure that your review has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Remember to include the date and time of the concert you attended, as well as your name, school, and grade.
Think about the following areas when writing your review:
- The Music
- What was the title or theme of the concert?
- Did the orchestra perform pieces that were interesting and related to that theme?
- Did the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra perform using a variety of dynamics (loud and soft), tempos (fast and slow) and textures (different combinations of instruments)?
- Were there dancers, actors, singers, puppeteers, etc on stage during the concert?
- If so, did they help to make the concert more enjoyable and interesting?
- How did the narrator and conductor help you to understand the music?
- The Hall
- Was the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall clean and welcoming?
- Was the staff friendly and helpful?
- The Overall Experience
- Would you recommend this concert to a friend?
- Would you attend another BSO Education concert?
